Like all solid wood, reclaimed lumber behaves like a living entity that reacts to weather, humidity, heat and light exposure as conditions fluctuate throughout the year.
Avoid locations with prolonged or excessive exposure to sun or heat. Avoid positioning near or adjacent to heating vents. Avoid use of direct sun, which can cause discoloration and enhanced cracking.
Plan for proper placement and appropriate window coverings if necessary. Spills should be wiped up immediately to discourage staining.
No different from a typical wood case, coasters, placemats, trivets, tablecloths, etc. should be used to protect the finish and wood surface and prevent stains, watermarks, heat damage, etc.
